Terms. The agreement between you and magpie, in plain words: what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you. Your library stays yours.

Who we are

The company behind magpie.

magpie is run by Deus Labs Stockholm AB, a company in Sweden (“we”, “us”). These terms are the agreement between us and you, the person using magpie. By making an account or using magpie, you accept them.

Org. no. 559537-2219 · Luthens Gränd 6, 118 66 Stockholm, Sweden

How we handle your personal data is in the Privacy policy. You can reach us at hello@getmagpie.me.

The service

What magpie is, and who can use it.

magpie is a personal visual library. You save things you want to keep and look back at, and magpie keeps them in one private place, describes them and helps you find them again.

Saves come in many ways: the browser extension (from Instagram, X, TikTok, Reddit, Pinterest, Cosmos, YouTube, Dribbble, Behance and other web pages), accounts you connect (such as X, Are.na and GitHub stars), your bookmarks, files you upload, and imports from other apps (such as Raindrop, Pocket, Readwise and mymind). magpie keeps its own copy of the pictures and videos you save, so they don’t vanish when a post does. You can use it on the web, in the Mac and iPhone apps, through the extension, and from AI tools you connect.

You need to be at least 13, and old enough where you live to agree to these terms and to the use of your data without a parent’s consent. To buy a paid plan, you need to be old enough to make a contract where you live, or have a parent or guardian’s permission.

If you use magpie for a business or other organisation, you accept these terms for it and confirm you’re allowed to; “you” then also means that organisation.

magpie is open by invitation and from a waitlist for now, and some of what’s described here is still being built.

Your account

Keeping it yours, and safe.

One account per person. Give us an email address that works, since it’s how we reach you about your account and these terms.

Keep your sign-in, your devices and your keys safe. You’re responsible for what happens in your account, unless it happens because of something we did wrong. If you think someone else has got in, tell us at once.

Keys you make for AI tools (through MCP, in Settings) act for you: they can search, read and add to your library, though not delete from it. Treat a key like a password, give it only to tools you trust, and delete it in Settings when you stop using it or think it has leaked.

Your account is for you. Don’t share it, sell it or hand it on.

Your content

What you save stays yours.

You keep every right you have in what you save, upload and write in magpie (“your content”). We claim no ownership of it, and we don’t use it for ads.

You give us permission to store, copy, convert (for example, resize a picture or re-encode a video), process and show your content to you, and to run AI on it, only to provide magpie to you and to keep it working and safe. The permission is worldwide and free, because we can’t keep your library otherwise; it ends when your content is deleted, apart from backups that expire as the Privacy policy describes.

magpie is for your own personal reference: a place to collect, study and find what inspires you. You’re responsible for having the right to save what you save. Much of it will be other people’s work, so treat it with care: don’t use magpie to republish, sell or pass off other people’s work as your own. Downloading a copy doesn’t give you any rights in it.

The extension and other services

Saving from sites magpie doesn’t run.

The browser extension works inside your own browser. It reads pages you’re already signed in to, such as your Instagram saves or your X bookmarks, and sends what you saved there to your library. It does this when you ask it to; once you’ve synced a site, also as you save there (you can switch that off for each site); and, only if you turn on Sync automatically, every few hours in a background tab. It never asks for your passwords to those sites.

Using those sites, through the extension or otherwise, is between you and them: you’re responsible for following their terms. Accounts you connect to magpie, such as X, Are.na or GitHub, are covered by their own terms too.

magpie isn’t affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by Instagram, X, TikTok, Reddit, Pinterest, Cosmos, YouTube, Dribbble, Behance, Are.na, GitHub or any other service it works with. Their names and logos belong to their owners and are used only to say where a save came from.

Those services change without asking us. A sync or an import can stop working, miss things or be blocked, and we can’t promise any source will keep working. What’s already in your library stays there.

Acceptable use

What you can’t do with magpie.

Use magpie lawfully and fairly. In particular, don’t:

  • save, upload or store illegal content, including anything that sexually exploits children, which we report and remove;
  • use magpie to harass, threaten or harm anyone, or to infringe their rights;
  • break into, probe, overload or interfere with magpie, its systems or other people’s accounts, or get round its limits or security;
  • scrape, crawl or copy magpie itself, or use it to build a competing service or dataset;
  • resell magpie, its AI or access to it, or run it as a service for others without our written agreement;
  • upload malware, or use magpie to send spam.

magpie has rate limits and fair-use limits so that it stays fast and affordable for everyone. Automated use through your own keys and AI tools is welcome, within those limits.

AI features

Tags, summaries, search and Ask.

magpie uses AI to tag and describe your saves, write summaries, watch videos, find things when you search and answer questions in Ask. AI can be wrong: it can misread a picture, miss something or state things that aren’t true. Check anything that matters before you rely on it.

We don’t train AI models on your content. To do the work, your content is sent to the AI providers we use, and they process it as the Privacy policy describes.

Plans and payment

When paid plans are offered.

magpie has no paid plans yet, and nothing here charges you today. When paid plans are offered, this section applies to them.

There will be a free plan with a set number of saves, and paid plans, monthly or yearly. Prices and what each plan includes are shown before you buy. For consumers in the EU, prices include VAT. If you buy through Apple’s App Store, Apple takes the payment, and its terms cover billing and refunds.

Paid plans renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. You can cancel at any time, and you keep your plan to the end of the period you’ve paid for. An offer that keeps its price for a set time, such as the founder offer, keeps it for the time stated when you bought it.

If you’re a consumer in the EU, you can withdraw from a purchase within 14 days of buying, without giving a reason, by writing to hello@getmagpie.me. You can use any clear statement, or the EU model withdrawal form. If you ask us to start your plan at once, as checkout does, a withdrawal gets you a refund of the price minus a fair share for the days you’ve had it. We refund within 14 days of hearing from you, in the way you paid.

Paid plans don’t cap your library by gigabytes. They’re unlimited under fair use: if an account uses far more AI or processing than personal use needs, we may slow AI features for it, such as tagging, watching videos or Ask. We don’t lock your library because of it. Big imports arrive at once with their pictures and captions, and are then fully processed in batches, up to 4,000 saves a month.

We may change prices. We tell you at least 30 days before a new price applies to you, and it applies from your next renewal, so you can cancel before then.

Export and deletion

Taking your library with you.

You can have a copy of your library at any time: your saves, their links, notes, tags and the pictures and videos magpie keeps. Until there’s an export in Settings, write to hello@getmagpie.me and we’ll send it.

When you delete a save, it leaves your library at once, and a copy is kept for 30 days so we can bring it back if you ask; then it’s erased with its pictures and videos. You can delete your whole account at any time by writing to us, and we delete your library the same way.

We never lock you out of your library because of your plan. If you move to a smaller plan or a paid plan ends, everything you saved stays there to look at, search, export and delete. Only adding more, or features of the bigger plan, may stop until you’re within the new plan’s limits.

Availability and changes

magpie is new, and still changing.

magpie is in beta. We work to keep it running and your library safe, but it can have bugs and downtime, and we can’t promise it will always be available. Keep your own copies of anything you can’t afford to lose.

We add, change and remove features as magpie grows. If we remove something central to a paid plan you’ve paid for, we tell you, and you can cancel and get back the part of the price for the time left.

We may suspend or limit an account that breaks these terms, puts others or magpie at risk, or is required by law. Where it’s reasonable, we warn you first and give you a chance to fix it, and we always tell you why.

Ending the agreement

Leaving, or being asked to leave.

You can stop using magpie, and delete your account at any time by writing to us.

We can end these terms for your account if you seriously or repeatedly break them, or if we stop running magpie. Unless the law or a serious breach stops us, we give you notice first, at least 30 days if we close magpie, and time to export your library. If we close magpie, we refund the unused part of any paid period.

What by its nature should outlast the agreement does, such as ownership of your content, the limits on liability below and the law that governs these terms.

Responsibility

What we’re responsible for.

We provide magpie as it is and as available, and as far as the law allows we make no promises beyond those in these terms: for instance, that it suits a particular purpose or that what AI writes is correct.

If you use magpie as a consumer, nothing in these terms limits the rights you have under Swedish or EU consumer law, or the mandatory law of the country you live in. We’re responsible for loss we cause through our negligence, as that law says.

If you use magpie for a business, as far as the law allows we’re not liable for indirect loss, such as lost profit, revenue, data or goodwill, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. These limits don’t apply to loss caused on purpose or by gross negligence. You’re also responsible to us for any claim someone makes because you broke these terms.

You’re responsible for the content you save and for how you use magpie.

Law and disputes

If something goes wrong.

Swedish law governs these terms. Disputes go to the Swedish courts, but if you’re a consumer you can also bring a claim in the courts where you live, and we can only bring one against you there. If you’re a consumer in another EU country, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law where you live.

Please write to us first: most things are sorted fastest that way. If we can’t agree, you can take the dispute to Allmänna reklamationsnämnden (ARN), Sweden’s National Board for Consumer Disputes, at arn.se. We take part in ARN’s process. Consumers in other EU countries can also get free help from the European Consumer Centre in their country.

Changes to these terms

How we tell you.

We may update these terms as magpie changes or the law does. For a change that matters to you, we email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you don’t agree, you can cancel and delete your account before then. Small fixes, such as wording, we just make here and date below.

These terms are in English. They stay at this address, and we send earlier versions on request.
